Lately there’s been a few threads on how a certain % of returns and not withdrawing are the only ways to grow your account. I’m just going to put my plan and leave my opinions out of this. Hopefully y’all get some value. Preface: I am a profitable trader funded with TFT but I want to switch my funding to MENT or Lark funding. Their model is very focused on risk and long term trading which I need accountability for.
Start a separate business/job that gets me capital to put into a private account. Trade said private account.
Put a percentage of funded firm profits towards private account. Other percentage to life expenses and investing.
My monthly goal is to manage risk. Not hit a certain % goal.
Keep trading. Compounding. Profiting. Until I reach my income goal of $40,000 USD/month. This plays right into #3 as having a good consistent risk management plan can yield a consistent profit so long as factors don’t deviate wildly. A.k.a I know most traders can make 1-3% a month with minimal risk. So ID need like 7 figures of funding to make this much profit a month.
Sell other business/quit job when trading income takes over.
Once you get your foot in the door in L.A. with representation and/or perhaps a script sale, is it possible to have a screenwriting career living in another state besides CA or NY?
And how long after I get manager should I tell him or her my goal of doing this from another state? First meeting?

Figuring out how much time to take off after a career change [NY]
I recently retired from teaching after 5 years. The last day of school was at the end of June, but technically my resignation wasn't official until September 6th. I decided to leave largely because I realized I needed an easier job. I'm planning on doing a career transition into tech, because I was a computer science major in college and it's probably my strongest marketable skill. In the mean time, I've been taking time off. Time off to not stress out about work for the first time in a while. I was speaking to a friend of mine who works in tech, and he advised me to start working again sooner rather than later. He said because of the recession, getting a job will only get more and more difficulty if I wait too long, and too large of a gap might not look good on a resume. However, I mentioned this recently to a friend who works in HR, and he was a lot less worried that this would be an issue at all. He told me that if an applicant to his company had a job within the last 6 months, he wouldn't even bring it up at all, and that because I'm doing a career change, I could probably take a year off without much of an issue. Wanted to ask what the general consensus might be on who I should listen to hear and how long of a break is ok. For what it's worth, I was planning on seriously looking for work around the New Year.
Career advice, please! Thinking Union? (Western NY)
I am 28 years old with eight years of welding experience. I am also the welding supervisor for my shop and manage 5 employees. The shop I currently work for (and have worked there for the last four years) is a production shop where we predominantly MIG weld, though I am the only one there who TIG welds as it’s needed, which is rare. We have a few older welding robots that I program and operate as well. Before there, I worked in a few smaller custom fab shops. I currently make $18/hr. I am getting very restless where I work. The pay is low, and I’m not motivated by making production numbers anymore. I long for work that challenges me, instead of putting me further into the rut that I’ve been in the last few years. I’m also tired of never having enough money to pay my bills. There are not a lot of opportunities in my area as I live in the Rust Belt of the East Coast, US. I’m considering looking into a Union apprenticeship, but I’ve been too nervous to actually make the leap. In my area there are Steamfitters (Local 22), Boilermakers (Local 5), and Ironworkers (Local 6), all about an hour’s commute from where I live. I have no idea which direction to go, or if Union is even the right move for me. I just feel depressed and stagnant with my current employment, and don’t see any opportunities for further advancement. I love to learn, and enjoy being challenged. I am also good at leading a team and keeping my jobs on track and organized. Not sure if this is relevant, but I am a rather small person (5ft 120lb female), so cramped spaces are easy for me to navigate. I’ve done some research so far, but would love some insight from everyone here. I'm also curious how apprenticeships work if I already have welding experience.
