The prosecution, which is investigating the collapse of Terra and Luna, has set out to recruit Shin Hyun-seong (37), former CEO of Chai Corporation, who founded Terraform Labs with CEO Kwon Do-hyung. The Seoul Southern District Prosecutor’s Office’s Financial and Securities Crimes Joint Investigation Team (Head Dan Seong-han) and Financial Investigation Division 2 (Chief Prosecutor Hee-man Chae) conducted fraud and breach of trust under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, violation of the Capital Markets Act, and violation of the Similar Receipt Act Regulation Act on the afternoon of the 29th. Prior arrest warrants were requested for eight people, including former CEO Shin, on charges. Four people, including CEO Shin, are early investors in Terra Luna, and the other four are key personnel in Terra Luna technology development. All of them are staying in Korea. They promoted Terra, a stable coin (virtual asset with a fixed price), and Luna, a sister coin, whose price is automatically adjusted according to an algorithm, and that they would pay interest close to 20% when Terra is deposited. Prosecutors viewed the design itself as fraudulent. Among them, former CEO Shin is accused of making unfair profits of 140 billion won by holding Luna issued before starting the business and selling it when the price skyrocketed. The prosecution believed that Luna and other cryptocurrencies had securities properties and applied criminal charges stipulated in the Capital Markets Act, such as fraudulent and illegal transactions, to former CEO Shin. Former CEO Shin is also accused of leaking customer information held by Chai Corporation to a separate entity such as Terraform Labs (violation of the Electronic Financial Transactions Act). The prosecution summoned Shin as a suspect three times from the 17th of this month and conducted an intense investigation. In addition, before prosecution, he requested compensation for collection and froze his property worth 140 billion won. Former CEO Shin is in the position that he will prove the charges in court. In his statement, he said, "I left the company two years ago and had nothing to do with the collapse of Terra Luna. I voluntarily returned home during the incident and cooperated with the investigation to find out the truth. express,” he said.
