Bitcoin was designed and built to replace fiat currency for day-to-day payments and transactions, unless you are a professional forex trader if you invest in a cryptocurrency to increase your fiat holdings, YOU ARE A FOOL.
I understand that 99.9% of the cryptocurrency community would now fall into this category of being a fool. But I stand by this statement that if you invest in any cryptocurrency with the expectation that you will increase your amount a fiat currency, you are an idiot. For 99% of people investing in cryptocurrency has become nothing more than following the herd into a beanie baby like craze. It's worrisome because I got into Bitcoin in 2012 and of course it made me fabulously wealthy but now I see this next generation trying to emulate their forefathers success and it's honestly just pathetic and mind blowingly stupid. I know that 99.9% of the cryptocurrency users are morons because 99.9% of the cryptocurrencies are completely pointless. Even on my beloved SmartBCH there is not a single coin that has any use other than speculation as far as I can tell. So stop "investing" in cryptocurrency and start using it :)
When you use your Singapore credit card to transact in non-SGD currencies, they are probably charging you 4.0~4.2% on the transaction because they're giving you a terrible currency exchange rate
I learned this the hard way - through a real life example: I'm going for a trip to the UK / Europe next month, so had made some bookings using my DBS Altitude card.
Transaction 1: 26 June - EUR 332.14 for a flight ticket; Exchange rate according to google: 1.46 EUR to SGD, so total based on google rate - SGD 484.92; Actual charge by DBS - SGD 505.08 (4.15% higher than the google rate)
Transaction 2: 9 July - GBP 248 for a tour booking. Google conversion - SGD 416.64; Actual charge by DBS - SGD 434.02 (4.17% higher than the google rate)
I actually have a Revolut card, which gives me close the google exchange rate, so I would have saved around 38 SGD just on those 2 transactions if I used it. Damn it.

Cross-border transaction: how to set who pays currency exchange rate?
I am trying to figure out the fees that I need to take into consideration when making an international request for payment. In this case I am “seller” and figured out I will have approx 4-5% in fees for cross-border transaction. However in the the fee terms, I found that the currency conversion rate can be set to be paid by either the seller (approx 3%) OR the buyer (approx 4%). In this case I’d like for the buyer to take on that charge, but I can’t figure out how to set this... Can any other seller with international transfer experience help? Thanks!
