Contudo, tenho algumas ressalvas.

Claro, tudo depende do contexto e do bom senso.

Com louça, eu começo me propondo a lavar apenas 5 itens... e geralmente acabo lavando tudo.

Risk Premium - Building a Foundation for Trading

If I were able to go back in time to the beginning of my trading journey with one idea, it would be “risk premia.” It is vital for any trader to understand the idea of risk, and how you are compensated by taking on said risk. Risk premia/premium should be the very foundation upon which you build upon. I consider it the easiest way to make money. All you must do is hold an asset for a certain amount of time to generate returns. This is why buy-and-hold is often the benchmark to see if a more active system is worth the effort. For equities, you see stockholders taking advantage of risk premium to generate higher returns than treasury bonds (risk-“free” rates). As interest rates get higher, so do the risk-free rates, which makes stocks look less attractive.
It's a lot easier to paint a picture using bonds. Bonds are used by companies or governments to raise money from investors. While bond prices have an impact on how investors make decisions, we will use flat numbers to keep things simple. Assuming bond price of $100 per bond and 5% interest rates for both, if you had the choice between buying bonds from Microsoft or from the local grocery store, which one would you choose?
A more risk-savvy investor would always choose the Microsoft bonds, as they are much less at risk of defaulting or failing to pay investors back. Now, if the local grocery store offered 15% interest, investors would then consider the difference in interest rates to decide. Since there’s a 10% spread in interest, the risk premium is 10%. For accepting a higher risk of default, you accrue 10% more interest on your investment. These opportunities appear in Forex, but they aren’t nearly as apparent.
Here is a research paper that explores the idea of how risk premium causes seasonality, or patterns in price that occur at regular intervals. This is a very heavy read for most traders, but the gist of it is this: Holders of USD are exposed to the negative fundamental news that affects the dollar during the New York open. As EUR is naturally a riskier currency (blanket monetary policy over several countries with different levels of economic health is not ideal) than the USD, it must appreciate to compensate investors for holding onto a riskier asset. The holders of the USD know their currency is exposed to more risk during the NY session, so they move to an asset that is less exposed to these events. JPY is where risk-averse investors will flee to. Meaning, the USD value falls during the NY session as investors move to a safer currency. The safer currency is JPY. The increased supply of USD naturally means a stronger EUR. Simple supply and demand mechanics.
If you’ve made it this far, this is why you should care. Here is what we call a market inefficiency. There’s a repeating pattern in that offers active traders a chance to gain abnormal returns on a daily basis. All due to a risk-based assessment of the market. Risk causes uncertainty, which we can take on in exchange for alpha.
So, the strategy. We buy EUR when the NY session opens and sell when it closes. Then short EUR and GBP when the London session starts. We will test from the beginning of 2002 to Oct 2022, so almost a 20-year backtest. The chart and stats. Well, it appears that the author may have been onto something. Now let’s see what happens when we add GBP and JPY into the mix. Here we keep the original strategy but sell JPY on the NY market open and buy when the Tokyo session starts. We also buy and sell GBP in the same manner as EUR. Here is the chart, and stats. While admittedly not as impressive, it still shows the pattern is there. Considering we're exposed to market risk around the clock, I'm honestly surprised this came out so positive. The point of concern here is the flat equity curve in recent years. This may be due to increased intraday volatility plus central bank intervention from both JPY and GBP this year. While volatility can make us money, it is not always our friend. The amount of liquidity and lack of intervention in the EUR may be our saving grace with this strategy, but as the stats show, JPY might be the most profitable asset. So, let’s find out. The chart and stats. Again, not as impressive. Seems like focusing on the more stable EUR is the best way to trade this idea.
Let’s talk about tempering expectations though. There are no trading costs considered, as this is a “perfect world” testing environment. We’re just seeing if the idea holds, and it appears to do so. This strategy may or may not be tradeable depending on your broker’s trading environment, in fact, I suggest you don't trade this until you come up with a risk and money management strategy. The backtest results are extremely optimistic (this is my disclaimer). There are also no stop losses or take profits, so a clever trader may incorporate something like ATR to make it a more profitable idea.
What we have here is a trading strategy based on a real market inefficiency. No fitting stories to price curves, no market myths, and hard evidence that the idea works. The strategy is extremely simple with hard quantifiable rules. While the average profit is very low, remember that we have not set any take-profit rules, stop losses, reinvestment strategies, or risk management rules, meaning it assumes lot sizes do not change as the account grows. There is plenty to build upon and experiment with. While trading is very difficult, all you really need is one discovery and a bit of creativity to be successful. For example, here is a free potential edge you can imply from this research and mess around with.
My intention with this post is to stop the infighting about different trading strategies and encourage users here to dig to find research on trading strategies that follow actual market mechanics. They are out there, but sometimes you need a second pair of eyes and another brain to really understand what the research is saying along with finding the implications of said research. The best thing you can do when it comes to trading is to collaborate with others and share ideas and findings. Having hard evidence that these ideas and findings are real is key though.
Credit: A user named PCZ on the Zorro forums was where I got this idea from. Part of the point I wanted to prove is that finding profitable and statistically proven strategies is possible if you look hard enough. These papers often include a trading strategy as well. I will be the first to admit that none of my trading strategies are original, but modified versions using techniques I’ve picked up over time. My code will be left as an exercise for my fellow programmers (I’m sure any of you can figure it out with some effort), but please note that I use true-to-life market open times rather than what the user found to be the best so results will vary.

Community Update: Forging Forth

It’s that time again, the Community Update returns to get you caught up on all the latest Halo news.
We are on the doorstep of the Halo World Championship, which will bring the last year of HCS to an epic conclusion. The Halo Infinite Winter Update is just a few weeks away (which will bring with it the Forge Beta and Campaign Network Co-Op), and there’s plenty more to bring you up to speed on. So, let’s get right into it!

HALO INFINITE

FORGE FUNDAMENTALS
Once upon a time, Forge was an object layout editor intended to allow players to rework weapons, vehicles, scenery, and spawns to change the experience of each map to their liking. But then, we saw crates suspended in the air with floating teleporter nodes, houses and cities built out of simple blocks. The words “interlocking” and “geomerging,” the tricks in a Forger’s arsenal to build seemingly whatever they wanted, became commonly known as a new community of intrepid cartographers emerged.
With each successive Halo title, Forge has grown and expanded its toolset to empower community creators to test the limits of their imagination within the sandbox of the game, and in Halo Infinite we’re looking to give you the entire playground.
In our four-part video series, Forge Fundamentals, we’re exploring the features that have been added and improved in Halo Infinite, to get you better acquainted with the tools at your disposal for Building, Scripting & Bots, Lighting & Audio, and File Sharing & Canvases.
Head to the Forge Fundamentals ‘hub’ blog here for a full er breakdown!
In case you missed it, check out our latest video on Lighting & Audio.

Social Slayer dials up the fun with action-packed Slayer variants such as Kong Slayer (feat. fusion coils for all!), Ninja Slayer, Purple Reign Slayer, Rock ‘n’ Repulsors Slayer, and Rocket Dodgeball.

CAMPAIGN CO-OP ACHIEVEMENTS
Also coming with the addition of Campaign Network Co-Op and Mission Replay in the Winter Update are 24 new Achievements for you and your friends to pursue.
Check out the full list of new Achievements here.

Get a full overview of the additions around Game History & PGCR here.
INTEL INSIDE
On the lore side of things, new Intel for Season 2 of Halo Infinite has deployed to the seasonal hub on Halo Waypoint (and is also viewable in-game).
Get a glimpse at Sigrid Eklund during the battle of Concord in 2551, prior to her becoming a SPARTAN-IV, when she served with the Army Rangers and helped the local militia strike back against the invading Covenant.
You might recall visiting Concord, perhaps from playing BTB or Dominion on a certain snowy Halo 4 multiplayer map...
New Intel unlocked!

RADAR BLIPS

  • CANON FODDER – FOOD FOR THOUGHT: **** In this month’s Canon Fodder, we explore the lore of Halo: The Official Cookbook (yes, really!) from the civilian perspective of Arturo Bustamante, who has travelled across humanity’s interstellar sphere and detailed this cosmic culinary odyssey. We also look at some new Halo 2: Anniversary armor lore (feat. Spartan Team Omega) and answer another round of community questions.
  • COMMUNITY CORNER – WEXYLEX: Our latest Community Corner has Alex “WexyLex” talk about her history as a cosplayer, and features some of her incredible creature cosplay designs as a Brute, Hunter, and most recently a Skirmisher.

THE ARTIST’S CORNER

This month’s piece for the Artist’s Corner comes once more from Halo Mythos, illustrated by Leonid Kozienko, and depicts the Master Chief on the surface of Delta Halo during the events of Halo 2.
This is, of course, an event that needs no introduction... but since I have your attention, I’m going to give it one anyway!
After the Prophet of Regret fled Earth, pursued by the UNSC In Amber Clad, they arrived at another Halo, Installation 05. The Master Chief, along with a group of Marines and ODSTs, dropped to the surface of the ring and set out to assassinate the Prophet, traversing through grasslands and overgrown jungles. Some of the weathered, stone-based structures they encountered seemingly predated the construction of the ring itself, leading some to speculate that they were brought to this installation to be preserved.
On the horizon, the Syfon -pattern assault carrier, Solemn Penance, looms as a constant reminder of your objective. Taking out Regret might just be the spark that ignites a cascading series of events that shift the balance of power within the Covenant and lead to the end of the war...

With that, the October Community Update comes to a close.
Lots going on! Between all these exciting partnerships and several additional wardrobes of Halo Gear that I absolutely must get my hands on, we're just a few weeks away from the Halo Infinite Winter Update and all the creative goodness that will come with Forge, Campaign Network Co-Op, and more. We'll have more to show on that front very soon.
In the meantime, we can't wait to see you at HaloWC!

How Can I Prepare For SFAS? (Part 2)

Part 1 is here
Active Duty Guys
I’ll say active duty, but I really mean in-service. Guard, reserve, sister-service, prior service, whatever. This group seems to be the hardest to manage. You guys know just enough to think that you know it all, but most of what you know is hearsay. You all seem to have retained counsel through a licensed barracks lawyer, and your barrister failed selection. And you are just proud enough to not take real constructive criticism to heart. Can’t tell me nothin’, can’t show me nothin’. Your selection rates are likely an indicator of this condition. Read slowly and take notes.
Let’s start with the big stuff…the CGs Unwaiverables. We learned, and relearned, that there are some things that simply aren’t compatible with Special Forces. In a world of endless ETPs there are three things that will bar you from the beret. You can’t have any felony, any DUI, or any domestic violence. If it’s in your record, then you did it. The circumstances aren’t important. If it isn’t in your record, then you didn’t do it. Let sleeping dogs lie. I would add that any security clearance revocation is likely to keep you out as well.
Your prior MOS, rank, branch, assignments, or deployments don’t matter. Yes, you are a product of those things, but the cadre don’t know (or care) about them. There is one standard at SFAS and only your performance matters. I’ve seen scrolled beasts quit and slick sleeve loggies get selected. Don’t make the excuse that you aren’t X or you don’t have your Y keep you from dropping a packet. Likewise, don’t think that because you are Z that you will get a pass. The only thing that matters is your performance.
So, what exact physical performance do I need to be successful? You can find endless articles and social media posts from fitness gurus touting their system and their subscription service for coaching. I’m preparing a separate research project that compares the different products available (if you’ve got one that you’d like to add to the list please send it my way). I think the official SFAS guide is just fine. I might add a bit more rucking and some Olympic lifts. But I would offer you this benchmark to meet before you go to selection. 1) Be injury free; you will not have the luxury of recovery between events and unlike your real-world position, you don’t get to pick and chose when you can take a break or skip an event. 2) Be able to do 100 pushups or 75 hand-release pushups, be able to do 10 dead-hang pullups, and be able to do a 12:30 two-mile run. Be able to do 12-13 minutes miles rucks with 50 pounds pretty much indefinitely. 3) Be able to bench press your body weight, squat 1.5 x your bodyweight, and deadlift 2 x your body weight. If you had to choose, I’d pick endurance over strength. But be strong. Be stronger than the fastest runner and faster than the strongest lifter (yeah, I know I keep saying this…maybe there is a reason why). Team week is endless squats and deadlifts with a good sprinkling of overhead press.
Rucking is the most important performance measure. Every important decision that you make at selection is made with a ruck on your back. Read those MTI articles in the link. Get very comfortable in this domain. Master your gear and master your feet. I’m not a fitness coach and I have no particular credentialed expertise, a fact that I often cite, but guys keep asking me about a rucking program that I would recommend. So here it is, without any guarantee of its efficacy other than I’ve had a couple dozen guys say that they used it and it worked well for them. It worked well for me.
I call it the 5x5. I prefer multiple short duration, higher intensity rucks over longer rucks. I think the more fatigued you get the more likely you are to get injured (see my three milestones above). The 5x5 is a 5 mile ruck, 100 squats with ruck, a 5 mile run, and 100 bodyweight squats. Change into running shoes after the ruck squats but stay in uniform. Aim for 35-55 pounds and 12-13 minute miles rucking and 6-7 minute miles running. Full range of motion on the squats. Do this 2-3 times a week and maybe substitute a longer slower solo ruck once a month.
The 5x5 will crush you early on. Your legs will feel like lead and you’ll likely be slower than you want. Listen to your body. Rest when you need to. Push where you can. But I’ve seen this program get you tree trunk legs, rock solid core, shoulders and back, and build massive aerobic capacity. Each workout is only two hours long and guys regularly report dropping minutes from miles in a month. The short duration also lends itself to the testing methodology described in the prep your feet post linked above.
